Opponents Kirkmichael United won by a handsome score. The club was run by secretary Jimmy Shields for ten years, and after his death the team folded. Their nephew Derek Parlane was signed by Rangers when he was still a Hermitage Academy pupil, and went on to star for Rangers, Leeds United, Manchester City and Scotland.
