Baird Telechrome Tube

John Logie Baird is pictured demonstrating the Telechrome Tube, one of his last inventions, to the press on August 16 1944. The tube contained two cathode-ray beams, each scanning opposite sides of a clear mica disc. On side had a blue-green fluorescent coating and the other orange-red. It was the world's first colour television picture tube, and only one survives today in the National Media Museum.
