The Meechan brothers took this picture of crowds watching a swimming competition on a June Saturday on the east side of Helensburgh pier, 18 years before the town's outdoor swimming pool opened. Some of the boats are the town's old jollyboats, which used to be laid up beside the East Esplanade.
