Jean Clyde and Sir Harry Lauder
|
Stage star Jean Clyde from Helensburgh and her second husband Bill McQuaid with Sir Harry Lauder (left) taken in Skye, circa 1938 — three years after he announced his retirement, although he did entertain troops during the Second World War. Best remembered as the little tartan comic with the twisted walking stick, Sir Harry (August 4 1870—February 26 1950) was described by Sir Winston Churchill as "Scotland's greatest ever ambassadorâ€.
