A DYNAMIC creative design team has been appointed to take forward ambitious proposals to revitalise St Peter's Seminary at Cardross and the surrounding woodland.

Avanti Architects, ERZ Landscape Architects and NORD Architecture have both experience and expertise in the innovative reclamation of modernist buildings and abandoned woodland estates.

A pioneering approach based on consolidation, partial restoration and new design will transform this architectural icon into a unique productive landscape.

The new designs will provide a flexible 600-capacity performance space, heritage exhibition, informal indoor and outdoor teaching spaces and over four kilometres of woodland paths, with a locally-led food growing initiative hosted within the Victorian walled garden.

Early next year, work will begin to remove dangerous wind-borne asbestos from the building, making it safe for public access after a long period of closure. Plans are underway to produce an inaugural night-time illuminated site animation in spring 2016.

Fifty years after the foundation stone was laid, Kilmahew/St Peter’s will formally open to the public in summer 2017 with a lively programme of interventions, events and activities.
